Workshop Overview

In this 90-minute knot skills workshop, students apply their fine motor skills as they compete to see who can master the craft of knot tying for practical outdoor as well as indoor uses. Using activities that link their survival skills, design, visual memory, teamwork and fine motor skills, students learn about various human-made and natural rope and twine and discover why different knots have their unique uses. Students are challenged to develop lateral and critical thinking skills as they build a shelter in teams with just ropes and a piece of tarp.

By adjusting this incursion to suit your focus needs, our qualified teachers will guide all students through each learning activity, prompting them to observe, investigate, communicate and reflect along the way.
