Workshop Overview

In this 90-minute survival shelter building workshop, students apply their STEM, budgeting and teamwork skills as they compete to see who can build the most sturdy shelter tested against the elements of the wilderness. Using activities that link their survival skills, mathematics, design, communicative and negotiation skills, students learn about various human-made and natural shelters and discover why they are built the way they are. Students are challenged to develop lateral and critical thinking skills as part of a team to develop a shelter they all find safety in.

By adjusting this incursion to suit your focus needs, our qualified coaches will guide all students through each learning activity, prompting them to observe, investigate, communicate and reflect along the way.
